High-Quality Self-Tapping Screws

High-Quality Self-Tapping & Sheet Metal Screws

What is a Self-Tapping Screw?

A self-tapping screw (often referred to as a sheet metal screw or simply a tapping screw) is a specialized fastener designed to cut its own precise mating threads as it is driven into a pre-drilled hole. Manufactured from heavy-duty, industrial-grade materials, these highly versatile fasteners provide exceptionally tight, vibration-resistant joints across a wide range of substrates, including thin metals, plastics, and dense woods.

Available Thread Types and Design Styles

To ensure optimal grip and performance within your specific substrate, our self-tapping screws are manufactured in several distinct thread types, each engineered for a unique application:

  • Type A: Designed with a fairly sharp point and wider-spaced threads, making them ideal for rapid self-starting in thin sheet metal or resin-filled plywood.
  • Type AB: Features a similar sharp point to Type A, but engineered with more threads per inch (a finer thread pitch) to prevent cracking or splitting when driven into more brittle materials.
  • Type B: Engineered with a blunt end and a finer thread pitch. These are best suited for driving into pre-drilled thru-holes in plastics, non-ferrous heavy metals, and thin castings.
  • U-Drive Screws: A specialized tapping screw featuring a rounded head and multiple starting threads, designed to be hammered or pressed into castings and plastics for a permanent, tamper-resistant hold.
